1. UN Food System Summit + 2 Stocktaking Moment at FAO: The primary objective of this summit was to facilitate country-driven support and collaborative efforts to achieve sustainable food systems by 2030, leveraging the capabilities of the wider UN system. During the summit, Mr. John Denton, accompanied by Mr. Ercole de Vito, delivered an impactful speech on the panel titled 'Food System Transformation in Practice: Successes, Challenges, and the Way Forward.' The focus was on addressing the challenges in transforming global food systems towards sustainability. Mr. Denton emphasized the crucial role of public-private partnerships in driving meaningful change and fostering business models with a profound social impact. ICC firmly believes in proactively engaging the private sector to contribute actively to resolving food system crises. |
2. Partnership with Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA): The ICC AFH, in collaboration with Cámara Argentina de Comercio y Servicios (CAC), has entered into a strategic cooperation agreement with the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA). This partnership aims to establish a network that fosters the production, exchange, regional integration, and export of agricultural products, guided by principles of sustainability, health, quality, and gender equity. Mr. Sebastian Ferrari led this initiative.
3. “When Food Becomes Geopolitics” Session at 13th World Chambers Congress: In this session, we discussed the growing role of food in geopolitics and the need to strengthen agri-food systems while addressing sectoral needs.
4. Webinar: “Promoting Sustainability in Agri-food Systems: Harnessing Public-Private Cooperation”: This webinar explored the multifaceted challenges faced by global food systems and discussed potential synergies and collaborative approaches between governments, academia, and private entities. FAO presented the Hand-in-Hand initiative forum, in which ICC is a partner, highlighting exciting opportunities for the private sector. Participants included FAO, Lavazza, and University Sant ’Anna de Pisa.
5. Webinar Series on Drought: The ICC AFH in Argentina has launched a webinar series focusing on the drought affecting South America's southern region. The series consists of three episodes covering the economic impact of drought, technology usage for mitigating and preventing adverse climate catastrophes, and the significance of agricultural reinsurance and a legal framework considering the consequences of adverse climate phenomena on agricultural-livestock sectors' economies. The series features specialized experts from IICA on its panels, with support from ICC Spain, ICC Ecuador, ICC Bolivia, and ICC Dominican Republic.
6. Webinar on the Recent European Regulation on Deforestation: This session featured experts in European law, compliance, international trade, and sustainability. The target audience was SMEs exporting to the European Economic Community, aiming to help them align with the new regulations.
7. [Support] ICC YAAF: Industry Series – Arbitration & Agribusiness: ICC AFH supported and promoted this session focused on the agribusiness industry and its main demands concerning dispute resolution, which was held at the occasion of the 1st ICC Arbitration Conference in the South of Brazil.
8. [Support] Workshop for SMEs on Protein Consumption Trends: The Bogotá Chamber of Commerce/ICC Colombia organized a workshop attended by food-processing SMEs interested in understanding global trends and aligning their innovation efforts with the market. ICC AFH provided an expert on both animal and plant-based protein consumption trends.
NCs and Chambers from the World Chambers Federation in ICC AFH Global Network: This network includes ICC Argentina, ICC Italy, ICC Albania, ICC Armenia, ICC Bolivia, ICC Cyprus, ICC Colombia, ICC Dominican Republic, ICC Ecuador, ICC Ghana, ICC Iran, CoE Kenya, ICC Syria, ICC Spain, and the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Some others like ICC Brazil, ICC Thailand and ICC China showed interest on the initiative.
