With the purpose of submission, review and approval of the operation and financial report of year 1393 and also re-election of a third of Council member and also inspector, ICC Iran held the annual General Assembly meeting on Wednesday 16 September 2015. According to ICC Iran reporter, "Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture", "Securities & Exchange Brokers Association" and "Khorramabad Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture" from the organizational members and "Export Development Bank of Iran", "Bank Melli Iran", "National Iranian Oil Company" ,"Secco Iran Co." and "Pasargad Bank" from the individual members were respectively selected to be one third of the ICC Iran Council members for the next three years.
Pursuant to the new constitution of ICC Iran on forensic inspector election, "Hossein Vakili" was reelected as the ICC Iran inspector by members of General Assembly.
According to ICC Iran Public Relation, Vice – Chairman & Secretary General of ICC Iran Mohammad Mehdi Behkish welcomed participants to general assembly meeting in the year 1394 and announced the meeting agenda confirmed by Assembly members and demanded for selecting the assembly governing members. Furthermore, The session was continued by electing Masoud Khansari, as the chairman of the meeting, Seyed Hossein Salimi, as the first observer, Mehrdad Khajenouri as the second observer and Mohsen Izi, as the secretary of the meeting.
Afterwards, The current vice chair of ICC Iran Masoud Khansari, also welcomed the attendees and began by review the agenda and performance report.
The session was continued by Mohammad Mehdi Behkish where explained about the ICC Iran core activities and accomplishments during last year and by focusing on current programs and new activates that are started in ICC Iran.
"ICC has three major functions as rules making, policy-making and international arbitration" Behkish said and he also explained that because its member companies and associations are themselves engaged in international business, ICC has unrivalled authority in making rules that govern the conduct of business across borders. In 90 countries, members have established formal ICC structures called national committees. In countries where there is no national committee, companies and organizations such as chambers of commerce and professional associations can become direct members of ICC.
Formation of two new commissions was the next item discussed. According to Dr. Behkish “Taxation commission” & “Trade and Investment commission” were formed to promote foreign direct investment and eliminates tax obstacles of international transactions and also to examine major policy issues of interest to world business.
As Secretary of ICC Iran Taxation Commission Ali Akbar Arabmazar presented a brief report and emphasized on the commission plan. Dr Arabmazar believed That Taxation issues especially double taxation could be important in international scope.
“ICC Iran Trade and investment commission is a new commission and represents ICC's main working body on multilateral trade and investment policy issues.” Said Mohammad Esmaeil Fadaeinejad, secretary of ICC Iran Trade & Investment commission. He also pointed out: this commission focuses on three major goals: 1) Introduction of foreign investors 2) Global change adaptation through notification 3) remove barriers to foreign investment.
The meeting was continued by introductions of present secretaries in charge of ICC Iran and was focused on reports of last year Commissions' activities. Dr. Behkish also stressed about ICC Iran advisory services chaired by Mohammad S. Zoghi and said advisory services office has held the Q & A sessions to assist solving problems of business society.
“For the first time a seminar on Iranian Economic Potentials will be held on 28 -30 Oct. 2015 in Italy hosted by ICC Italy. This seminar will address Iran's economic potential to the Italian businesses organized by ICC Iran and Iran-Italy chamber” said Dr.Behkish. He also announced about lunch of Silk Road International Chamber of Commerce in December and said Silk Road Chamber of commerce is considering cooperation and very constructive relations between 65 countries and not only shows different culture but also promotes global trade and investment.
To complete the summary report, Hossein Salimi, ICC Iran Treasurer presented the financial report as it was published in the General Assembly handbook. The report was completed by Vakili, ICC Iran forensic inspector who provided the audience by his examination report.
The next meeting of General Assembly will be held in the First half of year 1395.
